Our Charity Partner

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive condition diagnosed in childhood. It causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken, including the heart and lungs.

DMD almost always affects boys. It is typically diagnosed in childhood between the age of three and six.

There is currently no cure for Duchenne, but there is hope.  Duchenne UK are at the forefront of advancing treatments and care for everyone affected by the disease.

Fox Payne are proud to have partnered with the charity Duchenne UK and specifically the Ben vs Duchenne Family Fund Ben and his family get to decide where to allocate the funds raised, this has included research as well as projects like Elevex (an assistive technology for upper limb mobility) and DMD Care UK which aims to standardise care nationwide.

Watch our webinar with Ben’s Dad, Alex

We were very pleased and grateful to be joined by Ben’s Dad, Alex Clarke, who spoke openly and emotionally about the effects of this condition on Ben and his family, and what we can all do to help their cause, and other boys like Ben.

We were also joined by Freddie van Mierlo, MP for Henley & Thame, who spoke about the work he is doing in Parliament to raise awareness of this disease and for changes that are required in the health system to provide consistent treatment across the UK and access to a drug called Givinostat, which is not yet available through the Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) Trust, which is where Ben lives.

If you couldn’t attend in person, you can watch the webinar recording here

Something special for Ben

As you will have seen in Ben’s film, he is passionate about planes and Formula 1. Perhaps someone you know might be able to help us organise something extraordinary for him like an F1 experience or something to do with fast jets like tickets to an air show. If you or anyone in your network may be able to support, we would love to hear from you.

We have a number of fundraising events lined up, so keep your eyes open on our linked in for updates: Fox Payne Associates Limited | LinkedIn
